Photographers of the World

I've recently set up a social media group called the 'Photographers of the World' to feature the face behind the camera.

I grew up in Namibia and South Africa - my father always had a camera in his hand, either documenting our childhood or the amazing sites of the African continent. My uncle was also an accomplished amateur photographer and traveller and I got into photography through him, my dad and through reading magazines like Drum, Life and National Geographic. The incredible photos transported me to another world and I couldn't wait to leave school (who doesn't!) and travel the world. I mainly achieved this but after moving to Oxford, university and life took over and whilst I travelled as much as possible, I didn't really use this time to take decent photos or any photos at all (in fact, I think I used disposal cameras - what was I thinking?!) After working as a lawyer in London, I was eventually made redundant in the recession of 2009 and it was a turning point in my life, reigniting my passion for photography. The rest they say is history- I've gone on to co-found the London Photo Festival and Mapp of London and photography plays a pivotal part in my life. I am also pleased to say that I now have a decent camera and it comes everywhere with me!
